• Mixed Media Abstract Painting, Contemporary Art “Headlines

3 monthes ago - By Carol Nelson Fine Art

Our lives are increasingly impacted by headlines. Sound bites assault us where ever we go. Representing all this information, this painting is a busy mix of several types of media. I kept the palette on the muted side because I wanted the texture to be the focus of this interesting piece. Several types of papers were used, from Japanese rice paper to Egyptian papyrus. This contemporary painting arrives ready to hang or to add a frame matching your decor.

The Outer Banks on North Carolina have been on my mind. I was thinking of Ocracoke when I painted this little abstract seascape.
The Outer Banks is like no other place I have visited. Surrounded by water, the residents are a hardy type who take pride in providing for themselves. The danger of living there, is still felt, as the tropical storms and hurricanes devastate the dunes and road on a regular basis. In earlier times, shipwrecks littered the beaches.
I painted with a palette knife and oils, leaving it as raw and wild as the beaches.
Thanks for viewing my art today.
